Description

Accountancy Profession is the measurement, disclosure or provision of assurances about financial information that helps managers, investors, tax authorities, lenders and other stakeholders and decision makers for resource allocation and policy making decisions. The purpose of this study is to investigate Undergraduate Students Perceived Impact of Information and Communication Technology in Accounting Practice in Nigeria.Three objectives and research questions guided the study. Two hundred full time students of Accounting and Accounting Education from Olabisi Onabanjo University responded to the questionnaire items. Data collected were analyzed using simple percentage and mean estimates, while t-test was used in testing the hypothesis raised for the study.The findings of the study revealed that majority of the respondents have high level of awareness of Information and Communication Technology. The study showed that undergraduate students have strong perception on the impact of Information and Communication Technology Practice. The T-test analysis revealed no significant difference between the responses of male and female accounting and accounting education undergraduate students.Based on the findings, it was recommended that accounting Seminars should be organized for Lecturers, Teachers and Students, in order to be up-dated on the importance and usefulness of information and communication technology in the Practicing of Accounting.
