ABSTRACT
Disciplinary action plays a major role in determining the committeemen of employees, and it can be for the better or worse within this context. This study explore the effect of organization disciplinary process on employee commitment and performance. The focus of the study was to identify the effect of disciplinary procedures on employee commitment; identify the effect of disciplinary procedures on employee performance and examine the relationship that exist between organisational disciplinary process, employee commitment and employee performance. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study. A sample size of one hundred academic staff were drawn from the entire six hundred and thirty academic staff of Olabisi Onabanjo University. Questionnaires were administered to the sampled respondents. However, the study made use accidental and purposive sampling techniques in selecting the respondents from each of the five faculties in the institution. Results from the study showed that there was significant relationship between organisational disciplinary process and employee commitment. Also, organisational disciplinary process does significantly and positively affect employee performance. It was concluded that the current disciplinary process is effective and this has increased employees commitment. It is therefore recommended that records must be maintained to document disciplinary cases and should often be referred to for promotion and other incentives.
