ABSTRACT
This study examines the effect of critical life event and school climate on turnover intentions of secondary school teachers. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study. The sample for this study comprised secondary school teachers in Ijebu-north local government of Ogun State, which are selected through random sampling technique. The data was collected using three instruments titled “Impact of Life Event Scale”, “School Climate Survey” and “Turnover Intention Scale”. Multiple regression analysis and Pearson Moment Correlation Coefficient were used to analyse the three hypotheses formulated in the study. The result revealed that there is significant relationship between critical life event and turnover intentions of secondary school teachers. It showed that there is significant relationship between school climate and turnover intentions of secondary school teachers. Also critical life event and school climate have composite effect on turnover intentions of secondary school teachers. Based on the findings of the study, government and policy maker need to take seriously their share of responsibility in protecting the lives and properties of the teachers, and also need to see to motivating and providing necessary facilities for teachers in order to make them happy at all time and get committed to their job
