ABSTRACT
Scholarly components are more essential to the modern tertiary education, especially concern on management studies. Research competence is very important in relating to apply obtained knowledge in creative ways and create new knowledge. In recent times it has been identified that undergraduates’ interest towards engaging with a research is getting declined. The main intention of this study is to investigate the prevalence of research project phobia among undergraduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.

Questionnaire was used to elicit information from the participant and the data generated were analysed using descriptive statistics of frequency count, simple percentage and mean.
Findings from the study revealed that undergraduates have positive attitude towards doing research. Results showed that the undergraduates’ belief on research writing is negative and can be as a result of fear for writing research. The findings also showed that the undergraduate students have inconsistent believe on writing research because they had knowledge, skills and ability to write research but they are scared of writing it which shows they have phobia for research writing.
However, the study concluded that undergraduates’ beliefs, attitudes and self-efficacy about research could influence their interest in doing research. Among other recommendations is that the universities should strive to subject all undergraduate students to academic writing training, with a special focus on how to write research reports.
