ABSTRACT
The true prevalence of Sexually Transmitted diseases (STIs) in Nigeria may not be known due to the secrecy of sex and incomplete disease reporting/notification, the country is expected to follow global trends. Knowing the knowledge and practice of sexually risky behaviour will aid in recommending solution to increase sexual transmitted diseases. Therefore this study investigated the knowledge and practice of sexually risky behaviours between undergraduate students of private and state university in. A survey research design was adopted for this study. The population for the study was drawn from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-iwoye and Babcock University, Ilishan, Ogun State. The sample constitutes five hundred (500) undergraduate drawn from the two selected universities. Questionnaire was used to gather information from the participant. The data generated was analysed using descriptive and regression analysis. Findings from the study revealed that there is significant relationship between the undergraduate students’ knowledge of sexually risky behaviour and practice of sexually risky behaviour; there is no significant difference in the knowledge and practice of sexually risky behaviour among undergraduate students of the private and state university. Also, there is no significance difference in the knowledge and practice of sexually risky behaviour among male and female undergraduate students. Among other recommendations is that school managements should orientate the students on abstinence from sex and use of condoms when they intend to engage in sexual activities.
