Aquatic environment receives a significant number of human microbial pathogens from point and non-point source of pollution. Rivers is not left out of the aquatic environment and water from river is a vital natural resources because of its basic role to life. This study was carried out to investigate the microbial quality and bacteria isolates in three rivers in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State. Six water samples were collected from the beam and middle part of three different rivers and transported to the laboratory for microbial analysis. The water samples were investigated for the presence of indicator organisms such as total coliforms, Escherichia Coli, StaphylococousAureus and Pseudomonas Aeruginosausing the spread plate method.StaphylococousAureushad the highest frequency of distribution of 53%, Pseudomonas Aeruginosahad 33.3%, while Escherichia Coli had 16.7%.It was concluded that river water used by residents of Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State for drinking, domestic purposes and agricultural uses are of poor microbial quality. Therefore river water should be adequately treated before consumption and residents should also improve on their general hygiene practices.
