Description

The purpose of this research study was to investigate the influence work motivation on job performance. The performance of the employees at work is an integral part of the man process, to understand the critical importance of job performance among employees in an organization is to recognize the fact that work motivation and job performance are synonymous. Research conducted by Grote (2008) also supported the study by explains the relationship existing between motivation and job performance. The missing link in understanding the concept ‘motivation’, understands that there are usually different factors at work which can influence performances. Primary data (questionnaires) was used to gather data. The study adopted descriptive survey method with a total population of 200 respondents drawn from employees of Ijebu north local government secretariat Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun state, Nigeria were generated to hold empirical positions from the statistical analysis of data. Three hypotheses were stated and tested with t-Test and Anova. The results obtained showed that there is a significant influence of intrinsic motivation on job performance. Thereby posited that intrinsic motivation has significant influence on job performances. [F (37, 163) =15.613; p>0.05].  Also the result revealed that work motivation has significant influence on job performance and thereby posited that job motivation significantly influence job performances. [F (37,162) =15.613; p>0.05]. It also showed that there is no significant difference in male workers performance from female worker performance. [T (-1.004: df 198); p>0.05]. In conclusion, this study found that intrinsic motivation has influence on job performance. Also, extrinsic motivation has impact on job performance. Finally it also concluded that male employees were not report higher than female employees on job performance.
