Description

ABSTRACT
This study examine the effect of phyllanthus amarus extract on corrosion of Aluminum in Ammonium hydroxide using gravimetric (weight-loss) techniques. The aluminum composition of different dimension was prepared for the experiment by polishing with various grades of 60, 80, 120, 200, 800, 1000 and 1200 of emery paper. FTIR analysis was tested to determine the OH and functional group. The study revealed that weight loss decreases with increasing concentration of the leave extract which indicates that phyllanthus amarus extract inhibits the corrosion of aluminum in NH4OH. It was concluded that phytochemical compounds in phyllanthus amarus leave extract plays a vital role in the inhibition action of aluminum.
