Description

Economics is one of the subjects expected to be studied at the senior secondary school level. Transmission, exchange of information and opinion is very important in teaching and learning of Economics in school. Therefore this study examine the effect of communication on the teaching of economics in senior secondary school using Ijebu-North Local Government Area of Ogun State as case study. The study adopted ex post facto research design. Questionnaire on “Effect of Communication on Students’ Learning Outcome Survey” was administered on Two hundred (200) student studying Economics were drawn from Senior Secondary School to participate in the study. The findings of the study revealed that students are of positive opinion on their Economic teacher communicate with them. The study showed that Economic teacher’s way of communication is sensitive to gender [t = 2.640, p < 0.05]. The study therefore recommends that teachers at all levels should be given an orientation on communication skills in order to improve their way of communication and utilized it in their teaching methodologies.
