Description

This study was carried out to survey the practice of safe sex in promoting healthy sexual behaviour among undergraduates of Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago-Iwoye, Ogun state, Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey research design using questionnaire as the prime instrument. Simple random sampling techniques was used to select six hundred (600) undergraduates that constitutes the sample size for the study. Chi-square and t-test method of data analysis were used to test the three hypotheses stated in the study. The findings of study revealed that safe sex was significantly practiced by the undergraduates. It showed that undergraduates also perceived safe sex as promotion of healthy sexual behaviours. It was revealed that there was significant difference in the awareness level of both male and female undergraduates of Olabisi Onabanjo University. Among the recommendation given included that university management should endeavour to put in place adequate and accessible professionals that can enlighten undergraduates on the needs for safe sex in order to reduce the risk of sexual transmitted diseases that can be deadly.
