Description

ABSTRACT

This study investigated on the use of laboratory classes on teaching and learning physics at secondary school in Ogun state. The research adopted descriptive survey research type. The population for the study comprised of one hundred and twenty students from six selected secondary school in Ijebu-North Local Government Area of Ogun State using purposive sampling technique to select the schools and random sampling technique to select the students that participated in the study. Questionnaire titled “Students Perceived Use of Laboratory” was used to seek the students’ perception. The data was analysed using independent t-test. The findings of the study showed there was significant difference in male and female students’ perception on the use of laboratory class. Moreso, the study made if firm that there was significant difference in perception of students from rural and urban areas on the use of laboratory class. It was concluded that there is significant difference in the perception of private and public students on the use of laboratory class. The study therefore recommended that Physics teachers should be encouraged to adopt laboratory class as an intervention method as an effective learning strategy to enhance the performance of low performing students in and influence their attitude towards physics.
