Description

This study investigate the effects of songs and visual imagery methods of teaching on students’ achievement in selected Junior Secondary School French Language. The study adopted Quasi-experimental pre-test/post-test control group design. The population for the study comprised of one hundred and fifty students from three selected junior secondary school in Ijebu-North Local Government Area of Ogun State. Three research hypotheses were formulated and tested in the study. French Achievement Test was used to test the achievement of the student in both the pre-test and post-test experiment of the study. The findings of the study showed that there is a significant effect of song and Visual/Imagery methods on students’ academic performance in French Language. The findings also revealed that there is a significant effect of experimental Conditions on post-test scores of French Achievement test among participants in the Experimental Groups and Control Group. The study showed that there is no significant effect of French Achievement test among participants in the two experimental groups due to gender. The study therefore recommends that efforts should be made to use song and visual imagery methods that have a relationship with the cultural background and environment of students in schools.
