Description

This study examine the comparative analysis of the academic performance of students in Economics at the West Africa Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in Single and Co-educational School. The research adopted a descriptive survey research design. The total population of the study comprised of four hundred students in the selected area of study and instrument used was O’level Economics results of the students selected for the study. The findings of the study revealed that there is no significant difference in the academic performance of students in single and co-educational schools. It showed that that there is no significant difference in the academic performance of boys and girls that attend co-educational schools. It also indicated that there is no significant difference in the academic performance of students in Christian and Muslim School. The findings also revealed that there is no significant difference in the academic performance of girls in single and girls in co-educational school.
Among other recommendations of the study is that government and school authority should continue to encourage religious fairness across all educational level because this will go a long way in creating a peaceful atmosphere in our educational system.
