ABSTRACT

This study investigated the impact of Civic Education on good governance towards sustainable development with focus on secondary school in Ijebu-North Local Government of Ogun State, Nigeria.

The research adopted a survey research design. The total population for the study comprised of one hundred and twenty students in the selected secondary and the instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire. The data generated were analysed using descriptive statistics of frequency count, simple percentage, t-test and Analysis of Variance.

The findings of the study showed that there is a significance gender difference between students on the impact of Civic Education towards good governance. Also, there is significant effect of Civic Education on good governance towards sustainable development. It also revealed that there is a significance relationship between students’ class, civic education and perception towards sustainable development.

The study therefore recommended that Civic Education Curriculum contents should be strengthened to be seen as a catalyst for the advancement of individual and national development in order to ensure sustainable development for all.
