Description

Readiness is very important for enhanced learning outcomes of all students. Students’ motivation to learn is the main tool to improve the students’ progress. Some students seem naturally enthusiastic about learning but many needs or expect their instructors to inspire, challenge and stimulate them. This study investigated motivating factors for students’ learning readiness in Faculty of Education of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State. A descriptive survey research method was used for this study in order to obtain detailed factual information. This was achieved with the aid of three instruments namely Students Intrinsic Motivation Questionnaire, Students Extrinsic Motivation Questionnaire and Students’ Learning Readiness Questionnaire. Two hundred and Fifty questionnaires were administered on the students. Hundred percent of the questionnaires distributed were returned.Analysis of the responses on the questionnaires clearly showed that both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation have a significant relationship with students’ learning readiness at 0.05 level of significance and 95% level of confidence.It is hereby recommended that educational stakeholders should put in adequate measure in enhancing students’ learning readiness by motivating them.
