Description

Family planning is not only to control population but also for the better health of the mother and child, family helps individuals or couples to attain objectives such as avoiding unwanted pregnancy. Knowledge, acceptance and practice of family planning in Ijebu-North Local Government Area. Ogun state. Family planning has been in existence and this research wants to investigate the factors influencing contraceptive usage, the extent of which they are aware of family planning and their attitude towards it. This study employed descriptive survey research design using questionnaire as the prime instrument in collecting data from the respondent in the study area. The sample size of the study consisted of 234 married couples. The research adopts frequency distribution, simple percentages to analyses questions asked in the questionnaire administration and regression analysis to the hypothesis in the research work. The result shows that respondent knows about contraceptive and this information got to them through their friends, family, health Centre and mass media, and some of the respondent don’t use respondent because they feel they don’t need it, the spousal disapproval cultural belief etc., based on this research the administration of contraceptive has been welcoming and they were told the side of the contraceptives. Conclusively, to encourage family planning government should work with the mass media, non-governmental organization and also government should work hard with the health Centre in the area, the study also suggest that government should increase job opportunities in the area so that, family planning should not be seen as a way of depriving them of their wants.
