Description

This study investigate influence of peer group on adolescents’ career choice. Career development, for most people is a lifelong process of engaging the work world through choosing among employment opportunities made available to them.Questionnaire was used to gather information from participant who emerged from secondary school of Ijebu North Local government Area. Descriptive survey method was adopted (Chi-square), with a total population of 110 participants, whom their data was gathered and analyzed based on their responses.The result shows that there is significant relationship between the influence peer pressure and on adolescent career choice [X2cal=22.55; X2tab=21.026]. Also, it revealed that there is significant relationship between adolescent peer group and career choice [X2cal=25.20; X2tab=21.026]. It also shows that there is a significant gender difference on the influence of peer group on adolescent career choice [X2cal=23.65; X2tab=21.026].The study therefore recommend that vocational guidance and counseling services should be rendered for students with a major objectives of identifying and harnessing the potentials of the young adolescents.
