Description

This research project is based on the investigation on the impact of social media in crisis management citing August 2014 Olabisi Onabanjo University Student protest as a case study.Survey research method was adopted for this study. Two sets questionnaire were designed for students and staff of the institution. Findings revealed that through the social media, students were able to mobilize themselves and were well informed about the day-to-day occurrence. Also, staff and management of the institutions were able to get feedback by monitoring viral messages from students. However, it is recommended that organisations should not ignore the power of social media due to its pervasive, spontaneous and immediate characteristics.
