ABSTRACT
This study examined conflict management and administrative staff productivity in Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye. It specifically investigated the major causes of conflict among administrative staff in Olabisi Onabanjo University; examined the various conflict management strategies put in place in Olabisi Onabanjo University; analysed the relationship between various conflict management strategies and administrative staff productivity in Olabisi Onabanjo University; and highlighted the challenges against management strategies put in place in Olabisi Onabanjo University.
The population of this study comprised of all the administrative staffs in Olabisi Onabanjo University. Random sampling techniques was employed in selecting a total sample size of one hundred (100) administrative staff. The data generated for this study was analysed with the aid of descriptive and inferential statistics on Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS).
Findings of this study among others revealed that there was no significant relationship between conflict management strategies put in place and administrative staff productivity. Findings also showed that poor communication, strongly negative behaviour, differences in values and goal differences are the cause of the conflict among administrative staff in Olabisi Onabanjo University.
The study concluded that administrative effectiveness in Nigerian universities is a function of effective conflict management strategies.
